The President's Award - Kenya

Patron: His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya

Proud to be The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award in Kenya

About The President's Award - Kenya

Empowering Kenyan youth through non-formal education, resilience, and character development under Cap 216C of the Laws of Kenya.

ESTABLISHED 1966

Our Heritage & Mandate

Providing structured character formation, resilience, and civic engagement across generations.

🏛️

State Corporation & Statutory Mandate

The President’s Award – Kenya (PA-K) was established in 1966 by the Founding Father of the Nation, the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, who served as its first Patron. The Award transitioned into a State Corporation under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports through the President's Award Act Cap. 216C of 2017.

The Act mandates PA-K to regulate the conferring of Awards, establish mechanisms and standards for non-formal learning, and provide a balanced, non-competitive programme promoting personal discovery, perseverance, and community service.

🌍

Global Network & Continental Leadership

PA-K operates under The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, running in over 130 countries and territories. In Kenya, it empowers young people between the ages of 14 and 24 across schools, universities, faith-based groups, uniformed organizations, and rehabilitation facilities.

The President's Award - Kenya currently ranks 1st in Africa and 2nd globally for youth participation and societal impact, proudly serving as the designated Africa-Asia Hub for international youth development.
