Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions regarding participation, Award Centre licensing, and Gold conferment.

The President's Award - Kenya (PA-K) is a state agency established under the President's Award Act Cap 216C. It operates as Kenya's National Award Operator for The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, providing young people aged 14 to 24 with a non-formal education framework across skills development, voluntary service, physical recreation, and adventurous journeys.

Any youth resident in Kenya between the ages of 14 and 24 can participate. The Award operates at three progressive levels: Bronze (from age 14, min. 6 months), Silver (from age 15, min. 12 months or 6 months if Bronze holder), and Gold (from age 16, min. 18 months or 12 months if Silver holder).

In line with the Presidential Proclamation issued by H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, Gold Award holders who complete all requirements receive priority considerations in civil service, public administration, and state security recruitment pathways.

Public and private schools, colleges, TVETs, faith-based organizations, and correctional facilities can register via our programmes M&E portal (programmes.presidentsaward.go.ke) or by emailing info@presidentsaward.go.ke. Licensed centres assign trained adult Award Leaders to mentor participants.

The ORB (onlinerecordbook.org) is the digital system where participants record their activities, log hours, upload evidence, and where Award Leaders and Assessors validate sectional progress towards certification.

All participant, volunteer, and personnel records are processed in strict compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. For data inquiries or subject access requests, contact our Data Protection Officer at emmanuel.oginga@presidentsaward.go.ke.
